CALL FOR PAPERS

16th International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology

(ISBSA 16)

Zadar, Croatia, 26 September – 1 October 2021


The Programme Committee of the International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology welcomes submissions of papers and posters for the 16th International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology (ISBSA 16), organized by the University of Zadar, the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, the Archaeological Museum Zadar, the Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar and the Municipality of Zadar, to be held in Zadar, Croatia, from 26th September to 1st October 2021.

  • Submissions should consist of title and abstract of about 300 words.
  • Each applicant is allowed to send one abstract, signed by his name in the first place, to the secretariat (e-mail: isbsa16@isbsa.org).
  • The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1st February 2021.

Honor Frost Foundation Bursaries


The Honor Frost Foundation offers the opportunity for advanced students and young doctors from the eastern Mediterranean region, to apply for support in the form of bursaries to take part in the 15th International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology, being held in Marseille 22-27 October 2018.

 

  • 10 bursaries of 800 € each are awarded by the HFF.

 

The amount of the scholarships is a lump sum to cover the costs of transportation, accommodation and registration.

This lump sum will be awarded on invoices of an amount at least equivalent to the bursary. The practical arrangement for setting up the bursaries will be directly communicated to the selected fellows.

 

Requirement:

– To take into account the vocation of the HFF, the beneficiaries must come from countries of the Eastern Mediterranean: Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, more Sicily and Malta.

– Applicants must be at Master2 or PhD level, in progress or acquired.

– Applicants should not be supported by an institution

– Applicants who have submitted a paper, poster or film selected by the ISBSA Scientific Committee will be given priority.

 

Conditions:

Application must include a short CV, specifying surname, first name, date and place of birth,

University, studies and degree, research topic and activities in nautical archaeology, and any useful information.

Applicant must specify whether he has submitted a paper, poster or film selected by the ISBSA Scientific Committee.

Applicant must submit a financial and activity report including the invoices of an amount at least equivalent to the bursary.

Culture & Com, CCJ), to be held at the MuCEM museum in Marseilles, France from the 22nd to the 27th of October 2018.

Submissions should consist of a title as well as an abstract of about 300 words

  • Each applicant is permitted to send one abstract only to the secretariat email: isbsa15@isbsa.org

The deadline for submissions is 1st February, 2018.

 


 

Ships And Maritime Landscapes (ISBSA13 proceedings) Published

 

The Organizing Committee of ISBSA13 together with the Steering Committee is very pleased to announce the publication of :

This volume gathers 88 contributions related to the theme ‘Ships and Maritime Landscapes’ of the Thirteenth International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology (ISBSA 13) held in Amsterdam on the 7th to 12th October 2012.

The articles include both papers and poster presentations by experts in the field of nautical archaeology, history of ships and shipbuilding, and naval architecture. The contributions deal not only with the theme of maritime landscapes but also with a variety of ship related subjects, like regional watercraft, construction and typology, material applications and design, out fitting, reconstruction and current research.
