National Archeological Museum of Napoli
The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is among the most renowned Italian archaeological museums, particularly in connection to ancient Roman artifacts from the nearby Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum sites.
The building was erected as a cavalry barracks in 1585. From 1616 to 1777 it was the seat of the University of Naples. From 1816 to 1861, it was known as Real Museo Borbonico (“the Royal Bourbon Museum”).
